To the Editor:

Re “Republicans Try to Abolish Arts Groups” (Arts, Briefly, Jan. 25):

I can’t believe that the Republicans are now focused on eliminating both the National Endowments for the Arts and the Humanities as well as the Corporation for Public Broadcasting, as you report. Aside from showing their ignorance in matters cultural, they are not being good business people.

The arts in this country have made huge contributions to our economy, by boosting employment as well as adding richness to the cultural lives of all Americans!

What in the world are they thinking?
