"Progressive" is going the way of "obese." It began life as a neutral or even positive term, but came to acquire a negative connotation because that to which it refers is widely viewed as negative. (The negativity of the thing rubbed off on the thing's name.) No matter what progressives call themselves, the label will come to be despised, since Americans do not like what progressives are selling. We are a conservative nation, thank goodness, conceived in liberty and dedicated to the proposition that all men are created equal (under the law).
