My beloved Arizona Wildcats (27-7) lost a heartbreaker of a game yesterday to the Washington Huskies. The teams split their two regular-season games, with each team winning at home. Yesterday, on a neutral court in Los Angeles, they met in the title game of the Pac-10 tournament. The Cats lost on a last-second shot in overtime. It ruined my day. I believe the Cats would have been third- or fourth-seeded in the NCAA tournament had they won, but they ended up fifth-seeded in the West Regional. To be honest, I didn't expect much from this year's team, so I'm pleased with how things have gone so far. Here is an ESPN report about the tournament, which begins Tuesday evening.
Addendum: Longtime reader (and notorious union buster) Steve Burri likes the Wisconsin Badgers. Ha! The Badgers scored only 33 points the other day. That's about a quarter's worth of scoring for my high-flying Wildcats. Fourth-seeded Wisconsin will lose to the 13th-seeded Belmont Bruins. Write it down.
