I see no morally relevant difference between the invasion of Iraq in 2003 and the bombing of Libya in 2011, and yet progressives opposed the first of these military actions and (with rare exceptions) support the second. The lack of principle is startling; but then, when have progressives been principled? They are opportunists.
Addendum: If progressives come around to oppose the bombing of Libya, I will say so in this blog. If they do not, then, unless there is some morally relevant difference that I am missing, they stand accused of inconsistency. I believe that even if progressives come around to oppose the bombing of Libya, their rhetoric will be more moderate than when they opposed the invasion of Iraq. In other words, they will still have a double standard: vilification and character assassination of George W. Bush, mere criticism of Barack Obama.
Addendum 2: Michael Moore is consistent—consistently wrong, perhaps, but consistent nonetheless.
Addendum 3: Ha! I just discovered this. (Great minds think alike.)
