The editorial board of the New York Times has never met a tax it didn't like. Day after day, week after week, month after month, the board calls for higher taxes. Today, the board calls for higher taxes on the wealthy of New York, ostensibly to prevent budget cuts that will harm the "vulnerable." Does the board not realize that higher taxes will drive individuals and their businesses from the state? How does a smaller economic pie help the vulnerable? Sometimes I think progressives would rather have equal poverty (and misery) than unequal prosperity.
