This is why I don't use university facilities or equipment, including e-mail. I have an office on campus in which I sit during office hours. The office contains a desk, three chairs, an empty bookshelf, a coat rack, a recycling container, and a filing cabinet. (They took our telephones and garbage cans away to save money.) I returned the university's computer several years ago when faculty were told that they had to list all programs installed on their computers and run virus scans on a regular basis. I do no computing on campus. E-mail comes to me on my home computer via my UTA address, but I use my personal Internet service provider (Charter) to reply. I work at home, with my own equipment. I am as independent and self-sufficient as any professor in this country.
