William Jacobson has noticed Paul Krugman's thuggery and dishonesty. Krugman is typical of progressives these days, especially those who inhabit academia. Progressives have no interest—though they say they do—in civility, rational discourse, deliberative democracy, or participatory democracy. They have an end—the fundamental transformation of American society so as to bring it in line with their vision of socialist utopia—and are willing to do whatever it takes, including lying, cheating, stealing, betraying, and abusing, to achieve it. The end justifies the means. If conservatives do not stand up to progressive thuggery, as exemplified by Krugman, it will succeed.
