If this column by Peter Ferrara doesn't shock you, nothing will. What I don't understand is why anyone with self-respect would be on the dole. Part of being an adult is being self-sufficient. I don't mean by this that you're isolated from your fellow citizens, like a mountain man. I mean that you provide for yourself and your loved ones, unless you are physically or mentally disabled. I mean that you do not coerce strangers to feed you, clothe you, house you, or attend to your health needs. There is an attitude of entitlement in this country, and it is disturbing. People think they are owed something by others, merely because they exist. You are owed nothing. Stop looking to the government (which means other people) to provide for your needs. That is the attitude of a child. Grow up!
