On what basis does James Taranto claim that Barack Obama was born in the United States? I have no idea where Obama was born. Has Taranto seen the original birth certificate? Has he demanded that it be released, so we can see what it says? I thought journalists were supposed to be skeptical, especially of those in power. Taranto is the opposite of skeptical; he is dogmatic.
Addendum: As you may recall, I stopped reading Taranto a couple of years ago, when he toed the company line and began supporting amnesty for illegal immigrants. I can see that not much has changed.
Addendum 2: Taranto, who has no college degree, has an inferiority complex. (He writes about this often.) Like many journalists, he aspires to be an elitist. One way to be an elitist is to heap scorn on ordinary people. This is what Taranto is doing when he makes "birthers" seem stupid and when he supports amnesty for illegal immigrants. He's pandering to his fellow journalists who are college educated, hoping they will accept him. The mystery is why anyone reads this dolt.
