Dr. KBJ,

I've enjoyed following your blog for the obvious philosophically induced posts, but I particularly enjoy your posts related to journalism, which emphasize craft over politics.

As I'm sure you're aware, journalism's primary medium—newspapers (as are most print products)—is experiencing a slump in readership and revenue. It's unknown whether the slump is a result of the economic downturn or an increase in online news consumption—or both.

While at UTA, I majored in journalism and minored in philosophy. My last semester at UTA was spent researching journalists' trials and errors in online newsroom management. Since Arlington lacks a dedicated news source (I don't consider the Star-Telegram's Arlington Citizen Journal once-a-week distribution "dedicated"), it provides an excellent test market for a continuation of my education by developing an online-only news and information-sharing platform.

I've spent the last 6 months recruiting a team, forming an LLC and honing our mission, and as of today we launched a start-up campaign to see it to fruition by September. Here is a link to our profile. I'm not asking for a monetary donation. I'm merely asking for your help to generate awareness and point people toward the campaign who you think might be interested in making such an effort a reality. I appreciate any help you can provide in that regard.

Best,

Mark
