Major League Baseball's merry-go-round of mediocrity continues to turn. Bob Geren has been fired by the Oakland Athletics and replaced by Bob Melvin. Here is a list of current mediocre managers (all white, for what that's worth) with their career managerial win percentages and the number of teams they have managed:
- Jim Riggleman (42.8%) (4)
- Eric Wedge (48.8%) (2)
- Bruce Bochy (49.7%) (2)
- Clint Hurdle (46.3%) (2)
- Bob Melvin (49.3%) (3)
- Ned Yost (46.9%) (2)
- Jim Leyland (49.7%) (4)
Can somebody explain this? Why not bring new blood into the game? Why do general managers recycle the same losers year after year? Expect Geren (47.0%) to resurface soon, perhaps as early as this season.
