In regard to “Trump threatens government shutdown over border wall” (Aug. 24), Trump said: “If we have to close down our government, we’re building that wall.” The governance in the United States is the most important mandate of the U.S. Constitution, which directs the greatest responsibility to the federal government but makes no provision for a shutdown.
The Constitution does require that the U.S. president-elect take the oath of office: “I do solemnly swear . . . that I will . . . preserve, protect . . . the Constitution. . . .” When Trump advocates a shutdown, he is clearly not preserving and protecting the Constitution, and, thus, he is in violation of his oath of office.
If violating the oath is a type of “high Crimes and Misdemeanors” specified in Article II of the Constitution, then by Article I the House of Representatives should exercise its “sole Power of Impeachment” and begin the shutdown and removal of Donald Trump.
If Trump and the Republicans were to achieve a shutdown, then Trump would be “. . . unable to discharge the powers and duties of his office. . . ,” that office being the “executive Power” proclaimed in Article II—such executive power having been shut down.
The Twenty-fifth Amendment clearly provides, when the president is “unable to discharge the powers and duties. . . ,” that then the vice president takes over as president.
Trump’s removal from office will be well deserved.

CNN continues its campaign of distortion and innuendo against President Trump. Thankfully, the American people know what's going on. This isn't journalism; it's a vendetta by a failing (and flailing) news organization.
Addendum: CNN won't admit that Trump was right until there is videotape of Barack Obama crawling on his hands and knees under Trump's desk, installing wires on Trump's telephone. Obama always got the benefit of the doubt. Trump not only never gets the benefit of the doubt; he always gets the detriment of the doubt.

Imagine this scenario.
Your family is a victim of Hurricane Harvey. Your home is flooded, no electricity, no food, no transportation.
Suddenly you see a small watercraft coming towards you. As it gets closer, the boatman offers his hand to help your family aboard. You recognize the operator as a member of the LBGT community. You refuse his offer of help.
What person in his right mind would endanger his family by doing such a bigoted and STUPID thing? This is exactly what President Trump is doing by wanting to rid the military of all LBGTs. I would recommend the president read "The Good War" by Studs Turkel, a Marine who fought in the Pacific in WW ll. Maybe then, he would grasp that a person can be LBGT and still be brave and honorable. Much braver than someone who gets four draft deferments because of alleged bone spurs on his heels.
