  • To the editor:

The Times has every right to relentlessly hammer [sic] the president on its editorial pages, but doesn’t it owe him the truth when it comes to front-page reporting?

This story claims that Comey said that President Trump “told him to ‘let go’ of an investigation.” That’s not what Comey wrote in his notes. He wrote that Trump told him he “hoped” he could let go of the investigation into former national security advisor Michael Flynn.

There is a world of difference between the two statements. One is an order, the other is a wish. And when it comes to potential obstruction of justice, it is critically important to acknowledge the distinction.

Note from KBJ: This is a good example of how the left-wing press puts the worst spin on everything President Trump says and does. Instead of getting the benefit of the doubt, as Barack Obama always did, Trump gets the detriment of the doubt. The good news is that Americans now understand the media game and are not letting it affect their beliefs or judgments about the president. (It does, however, affect their beliefs and judgments about the media.)

  • Here is a story about the demise of Fox News Channel. I find myself watching less and less of it as the days and weeks pass. Bill O'Reilly is gone; various airhead blondes have been hired (some from the political left); and the incessant self-promotion and cross-promotion wear me out. I like Bret Baier and Tucker Carlson, so I usually find time to watch their shows. I also watch Lou Dobbs on the Fox Business Network.
