  • Donald Trump will be vindicated. Write it down.

Addendum: Here's how dishonest "journalism" works. Everything anybody says is subject to multiple interpretations. When Donald Trump says something, the dishonest "journalist" (think CNN or the New York Times) chooses the most damaging interpretation and ignores all the rest. Instead of giving Trump the benefit of the doubt, they give him the detriment of the doubt. Instead of imputing good motives to him, they impute bad motives to him. Instead of being charitable, they're cynical and malicious. Instead of exploring the multiple interpretations, asking which of them are true and which false, which are reasonable and which unreasonable, they insist on a single damaging interpretation. It's despicable. This isn't journalism; it's propaganda. Its purpose isn't to enlighten an audience; it's to destroy an enemy.

I've been at the University of Texas at Arlington (UTA) for almost 28 years (since August 1989). Yesterday evening, if my memory serves me, I went to a UTA basketball game for the first time, in the beautiful College Park Center. The UTA men's team was in the regional final (i.e., quarterfinals) of the National Invitational Tournament (NIT). The game was in Arlington because the sixth-seeded Mavericks happened to be playing the eighth-seeded Cal State-Bakersfield Roadrunners. UTA was 14-0 at home, so I expected a victory. The game started slowly, with neither team scoring a point in the first three minutes. UTA's players appeared to be nervous and faced a 16-point deficit at halftime. They never stopped fighting, however, and closed the gap to two points with six seconds left. But the Roadrunners held them off, winning, 80-76. We had great seats; the popcorn was excellent; and the excitement was palpable. Congratulations to the Mavericks on a great season. We may attend a game or two next season. By the way, I didn't recognize a single person the entire evening. Not a faculty member, a staff member, a student (current or former), or anyone else. How weird is that?

  • Just watched the totally biased and fake news reports of the so-called Russia story on NBC and ABC. Such dishonesty!

  • I sometimes feel I am living in a total nightmare since Donald Trump was elected president. The proposed health care bill is a total sham. If you are poor, just give up.

I am not sure whether we are trying to do away with the poor, but who would do the menial jobs as Trump plans to build this really big wall to keep out immigrants? I imagine his name and picture will be displayed at every mile.

If you are poor, forget about gaining any knowledge, as the man wants to cut money for education, public radio and public television, which I am sure he has never watched.

I can just visualize people selling matches and apples on the streets.
