  • Can anyone deny that all the leaks made public by WikiLeaks have done the citizens of this country and the world a great favor?

The leaks during the election campaign disclosed what the Democratic Party was doing to presidential candidate Bernie Sanders, and that led to party chairman Debbie Wasserman Schultz having to resign. And the other emails, like those that made clear her relationship with bankers, provided clear evidence of her thinking.

Now the massive WikiLeaks Vault 7 release enabled the public to learn about a secret CIA hacking program targeting essentially the whole planet, using malware capable of bypassing encryption protection on any devise [sic] from iOS to Android, and from Windows to Samsung TVs.

The leaks provided the first public evidence that the U.S. government secretly paid to keep U.S. software unsafe.

The releases were confirmed by Edward Snowden by noting the code names in the documents were real and that they could only be cleared by an insider.

  • Here are highlights from Stage 8 of Paris-Nice. Columbian cyclist Sergio Henao was the overall winner. Spanish cyclist Alberto Contador made a brave effort to take the overall title, but fell short by a mere two seconds. Had Contador won the final sprint, he would have gained 10 bonus seconds instead of six, which would have given him the title.

  • Some of you will recall that I'm reading the 10-volume Encyclopedia of Philosophy (second edition) at the rate of two pages per day. I've been at it since 24 April 2007. Today I finished the letter "Z." Among the entries I've read are:

    Zabarella, Jacopo
    Zen'kovskii, Vasilii Vasil'evich
    Zeno of Citium
    Zeno of Elea
    Zhang Zai
    Zhou Dunyi
    Zhuangzi
    Ziehen, Theodor
    Zoroastrianism
    Zubiri, Xavier

I read the two pages first thing in the morning. It takes about 15 minutes.

I have now completed nine of the 10 volumes. The 10th volume contains an appendix of additional articles, a thematic outline of contents, bibliographies, and a 494-page index. I expect to be done reading the entire set in early February 2018, about 11 months from now.
