  • The “surprise” election result is a punch in the gut for liberals. A flawed presidential candidate just couldn’t connect with the folks she was pretending to represent. The Democratic Party has gone so far left that it will be impossible for any turnaround in the near future.

The biggest loser, however, is the mainstream media. I doubt whether these organizations will ever change. Their deliberate attempt to first destroy the Republican Party by their full coverage of the “joke” Donald Trump backfired, damaging their credibility forever. I am confident that their coverage of the presidency will be “objective” unlike the coverage of Obama.

Liberals will have to adjust. The economic boom under conservatives is now getting started and will be around for a while.

  • To the Editor:

The Times reports that Donald Trump “vigorously denounced” the white nationalist conference in Washington that was awash in appalling Nazi-style exhortations and anti-Semitic rhetoric.

But I ask, where has Mr. Trump’s true denunciation been—a public denunciation, heartfelt, and full of appropriate outrage and warning? The answer: nowhere. Instead, affirming his loyalty to Steve Bannon, he continues to need prodding to disavow hate groups into which he has breathed new life.

Meanwhile, he “also defended Breitbart,” the news site, “saying it was no different from The Times, only ‘much more conservative.’ ”

Now a rational human being isn’t supposed to find such blithe utterances—and all of this—terrifying?

Note from KBJ: Judging from the tone of this letter, there is nothing that Donald Trump could say or do that would persuade Steve Becker that he (Trump) is not a racist. Trump should ignore such creeps.

  • Follow my reasoning here. The Texas Rangers have been to two World Series in their 45-year history: in 2010 and 2011. Someone in the Rangers' front office should have a computer search done. "Which fans, if any, had season tickets (81 games, 40 games, 20 games, or 10 games) only in 2010 and 2011?" I'm sure that search would produce two hits: my wife Katherine and me. At that point, if said front-office person had a brain, he or she would call wife Katherine or me and offer us free season tickets for 2017. Where am I going wrong?

  • It's official: Donald Trump won my home state of Michigan, which gives him 306 electoral votes to 232 for Hillary Clinton. Those of you who predicted that Clinton would win the electoral vote (even win easily) will note that I haven't teased, taunted, or tormented you. Would you have teased, taunted, or tormented me had Clinton won? Only you know the answer to that question.
