I bought my first bicycle (a Sears Free Spirit 10-speed) 42 years ago today, on 9 August 1981. I was 24 years old. As of today, I have pedaled 136,566.7 miles. Counting leap days (in 1984, 1988, and so on, through 2020), that's an average of 8.9 miles per day (for 42 years!) and 62.3 miles per week. I've enjoyed every mile of it.
