Why would Ken Paxton decide to sue Georgia, Michigan, Pennsylvania and Wisconsin for unproven fraudulent elections? Did he really intend to interfere with their certified elections? Most lawyers don’t initiate cases that they know they will lose unless there is something else in play. The U.S. Supreme Court absolutely did the right thing on Friday night.

I have no doubt that Paxton’s real motivations are personal. Perhaps it has something to do with the FBI's ongoing investigation of him? They served a subpoena on his office Wednesday. Seeking Trump’s favor for a preemptive presidential pardon seems to be in style. I think Paxton just jumped the line.

This elongated process of Trump refusing to accept defeat may unfortunately continue all the way to inauguration day, so that Trump can continue to fleece his “legal fund” donors. Perhaps after that, Republicans will admit that he lost and stop inflaming the situation.

Yesterday evening, Katherine and I watched The Wild Bunch (1969) on DVD. Neither of us had seen it, though it's 51 years old.

I have mostly negative comments about the movie. First, it's too long (145 minutes). Second, it's confusing. The two leading men (William Holden and Robert Ryan) look alike. I never knew from one moment to the next whether I was seeing the good guys or the bad guys. Third, there were other groups involved, which made it even more confusing. There were Mexican soldiers and United States soldiers. Fourth, the horses were treated brutally in this movie. That is unforgivable. Fifth, the dialogue was stupid. Sixth, most of the characters were unlikable. Seventh, everyone was yelling, all the time. Why were they yelling, instead of speaking?

On the positive side of the ledger, I liked the scenery and the movie was crisp and clear, as a result of digital remastering in 1994. The color was good. On a scale of 1 to 10, with 10 being the highest, I give this movie a 4. Vastly overrated.
