Your June 15 front-page article on Democrats’ fear of the phrase “defund the police” does not go far enough (”Push to ‘defund’ some departments worries Democrats”). The truth, I fear to say, is that progressives pushing this antipolice sentiment will guarantee another four years of Donald Trump in the White House. We might as well say, “Crime’s OK with us,” or “Law and order are for the birds.”

Note from KBJ: Ha ha! You're stuck with the mob, William. Good luck on 3 November!

President Trump's position on Seattle and Minneapolis is perfect. He tells the mayors (and governors) that he will send in troops to clean up the messes they have created, but only if they ask for them. If they ask, then they demonstrate their weakness and incompetence. Trump wins. If they don't ask, then their citizens know that they're exposing them to danger for political reasons. Trump wins. Either way, Trump wins. He's five steps ahead of his critics. Always has been, always will be. Thank God for President Trump!

President Donald Trump’s Twitter musings indicate he has pinned his re-election hopes on the “silent majority.” The famous descriptor uttered by President Richard Nixon in 1969 became his rallying cry and successfully propelled his re-election in 1972.
The modern “silent majority” is inclusive of objective suburbanites, especially women, who recognize Mr. Trump’s boorish behavior and incendiary rhetoric as symptoms of an insecure man who is unfit for the office he holds. This critical block of voters is not fooled by the president’s vile and transparent attempts to divide America.
Lucky for our nation, the cultural and sociopolitical chasm between 1972 and 2020 electorates appears spacious.

Note from KBJ: Your vocabulary is impressive, Patrick, but your political knowledge leaves much to be desired. Donald Trump will be elected by an overwhelming majority of the electoral college. Good luck with your senile imbecile!

Happy Solstice, everyone! Days get shorter from here on out (at least in the Northern Hemisphere).
