  • I haven’t really felt safe since Donald Trump was elected president. Any man who thinks he has the right to grab women in their private parts because he is rich should not hold any position of authority, much less the highest office in the U.S.

Mr. Trump shows his true nature virtually every time he speaks or tweets by spewing vitriol and foolishness. And now the somewhat vague existential threat I felt with Mr. Trump’s election has solidified into an actual threat to health and life because of his mismanagement of the coronovirus pandemic.

We should be reaping the fruits of the tens of millions of tax dollars invested every year in federal agencies designed to help protect us from deadly pandemics. Instead, we are floundering because Mr. Trump replaced competent, experienced federal agency leaders with anyone willing to praise his every word and whim. He has sown so much discord and distrust that the competent people who have managed to remain in critical government agencies have a hard time doing their jobs.

If this travesty is not voted out of office in the coming election, I am afraid our once-great nation will not recover.

Note from KBJ: Stop projecting your incompetence onto President Trump, Joanne. Why are you so hateful? I think that, deep down, you love Donald Trump. This makes you feel guilty, so you lash out at him as a way of persuading yourself that you don't love him. Get some help for your derangement.

  • For all of the political hacks out there, if I hadn’t done my job well, & early, we would have lost 1 1/2 to 2 Million People, as opposed to the 100,000 plus that looks like will be the number. That’s 15 to 20 times more than we will lose. I shut down entry from China very early!

  • The Searchers (1956)Three days ago, Katherine and I watched The Searchers (1956), which I own on DVD. Neither of us had ever seen it. The movie, which is widely hailed as a classic of the genre, did nothing for me. I think it's because I'm tainted. Once you've seen realistic Western movies such as Unforgiven (1992), the remake of 3:10 to Yuma (2007), and The Missouri Breaks (1976), old Westerns seem like cartoons. Each scene appears as though it was shot on a stage, with perfect lighting, props, and artificial weather conditions. The acting is exaggerated; the dialogue is childish; and the characters are undeveloped. Since being forced to watch a production of Oklahoma! in high school, I have hated plays. These old Westerns look like plays to me. Sorry.

    Here is the trailer.
