  • West Point graduates, as well as the graduates of all the military academies, will be in harm’s way soon enough. What could be more shameful and self-serving than Donald Trump’s plan to call the 1,000 graduating cadets of the class of 2020 back to the US Military Academy for an exercise whose only purpose is to spotlight Trump and stroke his ego?

The 1,000 graduates will have to travel in cramped airplanes from around the country, parade in a cramped graduation ceremony, then travel home in cramped planes. Does Trump also plan to invite the families of the cadets to attend, in the hope that they will want to jump on the Trump adulation bandwagon?

As parents of a distinguished graduate of the class of 1996, we can testify that there will be ample opportunity for these men and women to be in danger without this stupid idea by an egomaniac.

  • I agree with Ms. Schlobohm. Trump often makes nonsensical, asinine comments. He is all about himself and is, in fact, only concerned about his re-election prospect, his ego, and his hold onto the presidency that he has denigrated. Personally, I always “filter” him out, and never watch his “daily Covid briefings.” I did not vote for him. I would never vote for him. He is unfit for the office. That being said, Speaker Pelosi’s unnecessary embellishment of Trump’s disinfectant/UV light comment did not serve her or her political party well. No one needs to embellish what Trump says. Simply quote him exactly.

This, I hope, will be the strategy democrats will employ.
