To the editor:
Trump supporters fall all over themselves to honor our service members, thanking them for their service at every opportunity.
Given Army. Lt. Col. Alexander Vindman’s statements, it seems that their gratitude now might need to come with a qualifier: “Thank you for your service—unless, of course, you testify, truthfully or not, in a manner harmful to the president.”
Terry Sternberg, West Hills
Note from KBJ: Nice try, Terry. One can respect military service without slavishly accepting everything a military veteran says. Is it your view that military veterans have impeccable judgment, perfect recall, and impartiality? Did you say that about Oliver North?

….”I WANT NOTHING! I WANT NOTHING! I WANT NO QUID PRO QUO! TELL PRESIDENT ZELENSKY TO DO THE RIGHT THING!” Later, Ambassador Sondland said that I told him, “Good, go tell the truth!” This Witch Hunt must end NOW. So bad for our Country!

Regarding “Record flooding again swamps Venice” (Nov. 18): It was only two years ago that my husband and I traveled to Venice, Italy, to take a gondola ride through its historic canals and stroll across its fabled St. Mark’s Square.
Thus, it is heartbreaking to read that this majestic city is enduring record high tides and flooding for the third time in one week. Other parts of Italy are experiencing swelled rivers, and an avalanche was triggered in the Alps due to severe weather.
These events, along with a record summer heat wave in Europe that caused a 108 degree high temperature in Paris in July, are troubling evidence that climate change is wreaking havoc in some of the most beloved tourist destinations. It’s shameful that this anti-science President Trump administration has called man-made global warming a hoax.
Karen Stapleton, San Jose
Note from KBJ: Good try, Karen. President Trump is not anti-science; he's anti-politicized science.
