  • The only political party I see whining is the Republican Party, for they lost so many seats in Congress and their leader, Trump, will howl and scream when he is indicted for his many crimes. Regarding the Green New Deal, the fact of the matter is that before 1920, cars either were electric or ran on alcohol fuel, not gasoline. If big oil had stopped drilling for oil after the gasoline crisis in the 1970s and started producing biofuels instead, carbon emissions would have been 40% to 65% less over the last four decades. Electric pick-up trucks are coming out soon, and as batteries improve, there will be more and more electric vehicles. We could have more public transportation as well. To put one’s own wants over the needs of everyone is short-sighted. Ms. Eberhard would rather be a problem than part of the solution.

  • To the editor:

I am an admirer of Eric Alterman, but his April 3 op-ed article, “The Democrats need a candidate who speaks to Springsteen voters,” does a disservice to Democrats and the working class.

I grew up in a working-class family, and I have no sympathy for members of that class who voted for President Trump. If they thought Trump had their best interests at heart and Hillary Clinton did not, they were sadly deluded.

Yes, some had a perception that Clinton wasn’t friendly to the working class, but that was a myth and merely an excuse for swallowing Trump’s sexism and bigotry and not voting for, God help us, a highly qualified woman.

Also, Alterman sets up a false dichotomy between the white working class and other Democratic constituencies, such as supporters of Planned Parenthood and the Human Rights Campaign. Workers need reproductive healthcare, and some of them are LGBTQ and are worried about discrimination.

Let’s not perpetuate stereotypes that these constituencies are somehow at odds with each other.

  • The press is doing everything within their power to fight the magnificence of the phrase, MAKE AMERICA GREAT AGAIN! They can’t stand the fact that this Administration has done more than virtually any other Administration in its first 2yrs. They are truly the ENEMY OF THE PEOPLE!
