  • We’ve all heard the expression “The truth will set you free.” I wonder, what are the consequences of constant, brazen lying?

Our president lies and misleads with the impunity of a man who has done so his entire life and essentially gotten away with it.

President Donald Trump’s State of the Union speech is just a recent example of his chronic disregard for the truth. There were enough easily provable lies and misleading statements to fill this entire page.

This comes on the heels of his public insults toward his intelligence directors following their testimony to Congress repeatedly contradicting his positions on security issues.

Mr. Trump’s leaked schedule clearly reveals the man’s utter disrespect for the office he holds and his sheer laziness regarding his responsibility to actually show up and do his job.

Finally, while all Americans honor the incredible bravery and strength of Pittsburgh police officer Timothy Matson, I was personally sickened by Mr. Trump gratuitously trying to link himself to this courageous young man during the State of the Union. I remember the deranged Tree of Life murderer justifying his horrific act by explicitly echoing the president’s hateful rhetoric on his social media pages, inflating the imminent danger of the caravan and blaming George Soros and the Jewish people for somehow enabling their journey to the U.S.

And yet, the flagrant hypocrisy of Republican leadership goes on with virtually no objections to the unclothed emperor.

Nevertheless, Americans continue to hope and pray that the truth will eventually set us all free from this despicable liar. He is a blatant disgrace to the presidency and the nation.

Note from KBJ: I follow politics as closely as anyone. To this day, I can’t think of a single lie told by Donald Trump. What is J. C. Veltre even talking about? My theory is that he or she doesn’t know what a lie is. A lie is not merely a falsehood. It is the utterance of a proposition by someone who, at the time of utterance, believes it to be false, but who utters it anyway in an attempt to deceive. Barack Obama’s lies are well documented. Donald Trump hasn’t told a single lie. Perhaps by “lies,” J. C. Veltre means “says something with which I disagree.”

  • HOLD THE DATE! We will be having one of the biggest gatherings in the history of Washington, D.C., on July 4th. It will be called “A Salute To America” and will be held at the Lincoln Memorial. Major fireworks display, entertainment and an address by your favorite President, me!

  • I bought my 2007 Honda Accord 12 years ago today. It has 65,988 miles on it, which is an average of 5,499 miles per year. I drove only 3,155 miles in the past year. By contrast, I pedaled my bike 7,500 miles.

  • To the editor:

Bruce Baert’s sad but true Presidents Day piece, “How do Trump’s words stack up against those of his predecessors?” aptly illuminates how small, figuratively, Donald Trump is standing next to articulate giants like Abraham Lincoln, Franklin D. Roosevelt and Barack Obama.

Sadder still, our “I have the best words” president has diminished the honor of the office that he holds.

Baert’s piece should serve as an invitation to the eventual Democratic nominee, who will get the privilege (or duty, some would say) of debating President Trump, to make the following his or her opening salvo—no opening policy statement, no politically polite charming chit-chat, just read the comparisons from the podium, no holds barred, word for word, including the expletives Trump used in the “Access Hollywood” recording.

That candidate will render Trump speechless and win the election.

  • There is far more ENERGY on the Right than there is on the Left. That’s why we just won the Senate and why we will win big in 2020. The Fake News just doesn’t want to report the facts. Border Security is a big factor. The under construction Wall will stop Gangs, Drugs and Crime!
