  • Re “Roberts fires back at Trump on judges” (Page A1, Nov. 22): Is there no limit to Donald Trump’s tantrums and insults? We already knew about his thoughts regarding judges who disagreed with him or found him to have exceeded his presidential powers. But now—the chief justice of the United States?

Chief Justice John Roberts acted appropriately in rebuking the president for his remarks relative to biased courts—Obama justices, Bush justices, Clinton justices. This president cannot be allowed to continue with his tirades against courts that do not do his bidding. We are a nation of laws that pertain to all. Something that Trump does not seem to recognize.

And so, Trump took to Twitter to fire back at Roberts.

Never in my lifetime have I seen a president act in such a childish manner. The silence from our Republican elected officials is deafening.

Note from KBJ: Have you ever heard of tripartite government, Irving? Do you know that the president heads the executive branch, just as the chief justice of the Supreme Court heads the judicial branch? Do you know that the president has the right to criticize partisan judges and judicial rulings? Do you know that the president takes an oath (just as judges do) to uphold the Constitution of the United States? Donald Trump's judgment as to what the Constitution means is every bit as valid as that of John Roberts. If you don't believe me, read up on Abraham Lincoln. Thank God for Donald Trump.

This is a scene (click to enlarge) from today's 47.3-mile bike ride. I saw a black bobcat on the trail, which I take to be an omen of good things to come. Today's mileage gives me 738.7 miles for the month of November (an average of 24.6 miles per day). I've pedaled 6,770 miles so far in 2018, which leaves me only 530 miles to reach my goal of 7,300 (an average of 20 miles per day). I'm 90 miles to the good. The weather in December might be atrocious, so I've been racking up the miles while it's pleasant.

  • Just signed one of the most important, and largest, Trade Deals in U.S. and World History. The United States, Mexico and Canada worked so well together in crafting this great document. The terrible NAFTA will soon be gone. The USMCA will be fantastic for all!

  • Finally, one of the nations of the world is considering action against Saudi Arabia for its war crimes in Yemen, even as the U.S. president shamefully brushes aside the Saudi’s killing of Jamal Khashoggi, not to mention their three-year bombing campaign in Yemen that has killed thousands of innocent civilians.

Let’s hope that justice is finally served despite the stance of our own government.
