Here is Roger Kimball's latest column.

PG editorial director Keith Burris misses the mark in his explanation of why we should all lighten up on the president (Aug. 19 column, “The Kabuki Dance of Disdain”). The media probably does have a liberal bias. But there are plenty of alternative voices, indeed the Post-Gazette has become one of them.
The root of Mr. Burris’ complaint about news coverage of the president is not in the media’s “obsession,” but rather in the abhorrent behavior of the president. His zeal to attack rather than convince and explain makes for efficient 30-second sound bites and pithy print stories. His invective against his perceived enemies is so far outside the norms for society that it becomes the story itself. I can scarcely think of another person in public life who relishes demeaning others as much as he does.
His intention to tear down environmental regulation, put up barriers to trade even while he claims to want free trade, abrogate long-standing treaties, insult our allies abroad and make diplomacy about “liking” people rather than about substance in international relations cannot help but be above the fold every day.
Why are others in the news obsessed with Mr. Trump? Because he is obsessed with being in the news and makes sure he is there every morning when we wake up. When the president “lightens up,” so will the media, unless of course he is the subject of important stories that are the real reason behind the coverage he craves. Don’t blame the messenger, blame the source.

Note from KBJ: The sheer craziness of this letter makes you wonder how John Luff is able to function on a day-to-day basis. Donald Trump is a normal human being who fights back when he is attacked. Why is this so hard to understand?

Donald Trump, after watching Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid (1969): "Paul Newman is Butch Cassidy!"
Mainstream media fact check: Trump is lying. Paul Newman and Butch Cassidy are not the same person. Paul Newman was an American actor who lived between 1925 and 2008. Butch Cassidy was the leader of a gang of outlaws who lived between 1866 and 1908.
