  • I listened to President Donald Trump’s live interview on television Thursday. He reiterated his concerns that I had heard before. But I was astonished, and also sad, about his presentation.

President Trump covered the same old things about everyone being against him: the press, Congress, the media, the Department of Justice, the FBI and the courts. But this interview was extraordinary. This interview brought back memories of the 1954 movie "The Caine Mutiny," starring Humphrey Bogart, who played naval commander Captain Queeg. The captain was testifying in his own behalf at the court-martial of two subordinate officers who had based their alleged mutinous actions on the observed odd behavior of the captain.

All of a sudden, Bogart pulled some metal balls from his pocket and began to roll them in his right hand while he ranted to the military court about disloyal officers, stolen strawberries, an imaginary key, a severed towline, steaming in a circle and how everyone fights him.

The similarity between Trump and Captain Queeg seems to be obvious. However, it is also a sad situation for our country, as it was for the military court whose members fell silent and stared at Captain Queeg silently, in an obvious state of sad disbelief. I, too, listened to President Trump in sad disbelief.

Perhaps it is time for someone with proper credentials and authority to examine the mental state of our president. Short of the ball bearings, our president seems to display the characteristics of a Captain Queeg.

  • A Rigged System – They don’t want to turn over Documents to Congress. What are they afraid of? Why so much redacting? Why such unequal “justice?” At some point I will have no choice but to use the powers granted to the Presidency and get involved!

  • In “The Twitter Rules,” the social media and messaging platform says:

    ▪ “. . . We prohibit behavior that crosses the line into abuse, including behavior that harasses, intimidates, or uses fear.”

    ▪ “You may not make specific threats of violence or wish for the serious physical harm, death, or disease of an individual or group of people.”

    ▪ “You may not engage in the targeted harassment of someone, or incite other people to do so. We consider abusive behavior an attempt to harass, intimidate, or silence someone else’s voice.”

    ▪ “You may not promote violence against, threaten, or harass other people on the basis of race, ethnicity, national origin, sexual orientation, gender, gender identity, religious affiliation, age, disability, or serious disease.”

Violation is supposed to result in suspension or limitation of the account. When will Twitter extend enforcement of its rules to a certain resident of the White House?
