I want to first commend The Oregonian/OregonLive for publishing the recent article, "There's been no first year like this," Jan. 21.
I am writing to ask why the left just can't let go. Letters to the editor like "Trump has to go" (Jan. 21) and "Who's better off under Trump?" (Jan. 22) show the unwillingness to just get along.
I did not like the Barack Obama presidency, but I recognized and respected him as our president. I was brought up to respect and pray for our leaders. I did just that for Obama, even though I disagreed with everything he stood for. Why can't the left just accept some simple facts?
The question "Who's better off under Trump?" has an easy answer: everyone.
Everyone has more money, more security, less government, better race relations and judges who follow the Constitution instead of interpret it. It's what this country was founded on.
For those who disagree, please do the following: Leave your house and car doors unlocked and give all your money away to those unwilling to help themselves. After all is taken and gone, you'll at least have your pride left.

Thank you for all of the nice compliments and reviews on the State of the Union speech. 45.6 million people watched, the highest number in history. @FoxNews beat every other Network, for the first time ever, with 11.7 million people tuning in. Delivered from the heart!

Bill Vallicella nails it. Communication between left and right is all but impossible.
