  • To the editor:

At a funeral for a close friend I recently attended, the deceased’s brother stood and addressed the crowded chapel.

His face edged with grief, he spoke of her loving family, many accomplishments and devoted friends. He ended his remarks by stating—half jokingly—that his biggest regret was that his sister had not lived to see Trump impeached.

His words, and Welsh’s brave and darkly funny op-ed article, underscore the extreme state of our current national condition. We have a president who, on a daily basis, injures our sense of what is just and right and exhibits bizarre behavior that sickens our souls.

I, like so many others, hope Welsh’s wish comes true and Trump is removed from office. That is something worth living for.

  • Meeting with “Chuck and Nancy” today about keeping government open and working. Problem is they want illegal immigrants flooding into our Country unchecked, are weak on Crime and want to substantially RAISE Taxes. I don’t see a deal!

  • Fans of the Arizona Wildcats are used to disappointment. This past week, the Cats (3-3) lost three games in three days, causing them to fall out of the top 25 from second in the nation. The team needs to regroup and start climbing.

  • Of all the important issues confronting our government today, Donald Trump chooses to focus on bringing Hillary Clinton to justice—“Crooked Hillary” as he calls her. Last time I looked, he was the president and she is not. He won the election, and he is the one under investigation who may one day have to answer for his misdeeds, including possible impeachment. His knack of diverting our attention away from the more pressing problems will not always work.

Day after day and tweet after tweet, he demonstrates his utter lack of competence and direction. He should put his obsession with Hillary in the past and concentrate on the task at hand. There is work to do.

  • We should have a contest as to which of the Networks, plus CNN and not including Fox, is the most dishonest, corrupt and/or distorted in its political coverage of your favorite President (me). They are all bad. Winner to receive the FAKE NEWS TROPHY!
