Yesterday, in Arlington, Texas, I did my 16th footrace since Labor Day and my 142d overall. The 5K race was on the same course as the race two days earlier, but there was more wind. Instead of running at a 6:39.67 pace, I ran at a 6:44.17 pace. That's four seconds faster than a year ago in the same race, so I'm happy. I got third place this time, of 10 men in my age group. I was the 17th male finisher (of 95) and the 19th finisher overall (of 197). I love racing. I could have stayed home and run by myself, but I enjoy competing and I enjoy talking to my friends afterward. Other than the chilly wind, it was a gorgeous morning. My five years in Tucson spoiled me for sunshine. I can't get enough of it.
