Mark Spahn sent a link to this interesting post from the Volokh Conspiracy. Eugene Volokh is one of the people Brian Leiter has smeared. Notice how Leiter encourages his sycophants (whom he calls "loyal readers") to smear people for him. His sycophants are more than happy to do this in order to ingratiate themselves with him, and he likes it because he gets to harm people's careers without seeming to do so. (The sycophants evade responsibility by making their attacks anonymously. I receive hate mail from them on a regular basis.) Why are Leiter's "loyal readers" eager to ingratiate themselves with him? Because they're careerists, like Leiter. They hope to trade on his "kingmaking" status in the professions of law and philosophy. (Some of them, I am sure, just love his Marxism.)

I'm not making this stuff up, folks! This man is a megalomaniacal thug. I am just one of his many victims. (See here for the full, or at least the current, list.) He writes more about me than other people (the equivalent of a long scholarly article) because I stand up to him. Most others cower in fear before him, which is what he expected me to do. He doesn't know me. By the way, I have never asked anyone to harm or harass someone in my behalf, and if I ever find out that someone has been doing so as a way of pleasing me, I will order him or her to desist. I can't imagine anything more despicable than inciting smears, especially anonymous ones. Leiter does it routinely. This post of his is but one example.

Addendum: Did you read Leiter's post? In one blog post (albeit a long one, filled with scurrilous claims, invective, and filth), Leiter managed to call Volokh sleazy, "a class act" (sarcasm, obviously, so he's saying that Volokh lacks class), uncivilized or inadequately civilized (while comparing him to one of Volokh's colleagues), juvenile, a moral hypocrite (as opposed to what sort of hypocrite?), and a man with "intellectual limitations" (this shows how utterly crazy Leiter is, for Volokh is, by almost any standard, a genius). Isn't it great how Leiter plays the victim? It's like Hitler complaining about being put upon.

Addendum 2: Let me repeat something I have said many times. Leiter has it within his power to get me to delete Brian Leiter, Academic Thug, just as Dorothy had it within her power all along to go back to Kansas. The thing is, he has to figure out how to do it. I remain convinced that he is not intelligent enough to figure it out, even though it is quite simple. I'm also not convinced that, if he does figure it out, he has the moral character to do it.
