Tell me where I'm going wrong. Barack Obama won a resounding victory in November. Let's let him govern. Part of me wants to fight him every step of the way, the way progressives fought President George W. Bush every step of the way. We conservatives are better than progressives. Let Obama have his stimulus package, as wrongheaded as it may seem to us, and see what transpires. It will almost certainly fail, although he and his aides will spin it so as to make it seem a success. Ultimately, the American people will judge whether it was a success. If Obama's stimulus package fails, it will be the end of his prospects for a second term as president. It will also reinvigorate small-government principles and turn people against massive government intervention in the economy. Socialists such as Paul Krugman will be discredited. Then again, the stimulus package could work. We'll have to wait and see. So here's my advice: Let's allow Obama to govern as he sees fit, and hold him responsible for what happens.
