Re “Obama’s War on Terror May Resemble Bush’s in Some Areas” (news article, Feb. 18):
Outrage. Betrayal. Heartbreak. These are just a few of the words describing what I feel today after making all those phone calls and going door to door for the election of Barack Obama.
I did hope that the undermining of the United States Constitution would finally be over with this “change” from the Bush administration; unfortunately, “change” is not happening.

Note from KBJ: How exactly did President Bush "undermine the United States Constitution"? Does saying this a lot make it true? Do progressives even feel the need to elaborate? Is it possible that Presidents Bush and Obama are right and the letter writer wrong about what the Constitution allows? Suppose, for the sake of argument, that President Bush did undermine the United States Constitution. Was he justified in doing so? Only a constitutional absolutist could think that this question need not be asked and answered. One wonders what the letter writer would have said about President Lincoln.
