Mark Spahn sent a link to this blog post by Jeff Jarvis. I'm a canary in a coalmine regarding newspapers. I began reading a newspaper (The Detroit News) in 1967, when I was 10. (I read it originally for the baseball box scores and comics. Eventually, I expanded to news coverage and editorial opinions.) I've been reading a daily newspaper for more than 40 years. This past September, I canceled my subscription to the Fort Worth Star-Telegram. I don't miss it a bit. I get everything I need (including TV listings and weather forecasts) from the Internet, for free. If I can do without a print newspaper, then anyone can. Evidently, many people are.
