Here is Thomas Sowell's latest column. Have you noticed the modus operandi of progressives, both in and out of academia? It is to delegitimize those who disagree with them. Progressives are so convinced of their own rectitude that they cannot imagine how anyone could have different beliefs or values than they do. The only explanation for such divergence is ignorance, stupidity, or prejudice. No informed, intelligent, unbiased person could believe (1) that marriage should be limited to heterosexual couples, (2) that affirmative action is unjust, (3) that Roe v. Wade (1973) was wrongly decided, (4) that torture is sometimes justified for purposes of national security, (5) that global warming is a hoax perpetrated by politicized scientists and power-hungry politicians, or (6) that individuals have a constitutional right to possess firearms. Unless conservatives stand up to these thugs, conservatism itself will come to be viewed as a hate crime.
