Every now and then, I get an e-mail message from someone saying, in effect, that if I put up a link to his or her website on my Animal Ethics blog, he or she will reciprocate. I don't understand this. Why should I go first? Link to my blog, show it to me, and I'll decide whether to reciprocate. I now respond to such requests with a simple two-word message: "You first."
