Here is a blog post about anonymous blogging, of which, as you know, I disapprove. I don't read anonymous work, whether it's a blog post, a comment on a blog, a letter to the editor, a magazine article, or a scholarly publication. Part of being an adult is taking responsibility for your actions, and the way to take responsibility for your utterances is to identify yourself to your interlocutors.

Addendum: Someone, a few years ago, criticized me for "confusing" pseudonymity with anonymity. The former term means publishing under a false name; the latter means publishing under no name. The problem with this analysis is that "anonymity" is ambiguous. It can mean either "no name" or "no real name." The critic assumed the former meaning, but on the latter meaning, pseudonymity is a variety of anonymity. When I say that I oppose anonymity, I mean that I oppose publication under something other than one's real name. That includes both anonymity (in the sense of no name) and pseudonymity.
