It's still hot in these parts, but it hasn't kept me from running. I just ran for the third time in three days. The temperatures when I finished these runs were 99.9, 99.3, and 99.1 degrees Fahrenheit. Today, as I finished a 3.1-mile run, a boy of about 15 ran alongside me, holding his drooping pants up. (How stupid is that?) "I can run faster than you," he said, with an air of triumph. "But I have three miles in me," I replied, smiling. As soon as I said it, he stopped running and muttered, "I can't run no three miles." I got a chuckle out of it.
