Here is a scene from today's stage of the Tour de France. Swiss cyclist Fabian Cancellara, a previous winner of Paris-Roubaix, won the 9.6-mile stage with an average speed of 29.58 miles per hour. Lance Armstrong finished 10th of 180 riders, 40 seconds behind Cancellara. Three of the nine riders ahead of Armstrong are his teammates (Alberto Contador, Andreas Klöden, and Levi Leipheimer). Contador has become a superb time trialist. He is also an excellent climber. Unless he falters, he will be the Astana team leader. About all Armstrong can do is stay close to him on the climbs in case he does falter. Here is tomorrow's stage.
