The author of this New York Times analysis doesn't understand the difference (it's a rather stark one) between explaining something and excusing it. She thinks that if men are genetically disposed to cheat on their wives, then they are not responsible (or are less responsible) for their behavior. But that's a symptom of our age, isn't it? How many times have you heard criminal conduct excused by the claim that the criminal grew up in poverty or came from a bad family or was subject to bad influences?
