We have reached the All-Star break. (Is anyone going to watch the Home Run Derby tonight?) If the playoffs were to begin today, it would be Detroit at Boston and New York at Los Angeles in the American League and St Louis at Los Angeles and San Francisco at Philadelphia in the National League. Here are the standings. Before the season began, I predicted that Detroit and Los Angeles would meet in the World Series. That prediction is looking good, since both teams are in first place.
