Here is a story about Alberto Contador, who is quoted as saying that, if Lance Armstrong attacks, he (Contador) will not chase him down. It's mind-boggling that this needs to be said; it's Cycling 101. If you're wondering what I think will happen during the remainder of the Tour, here goes. I think Astana team manager Johan Bruyneel will instruct Contador and Armstrong to stay together. They will work together to chase down any attacks. If the two of them can get away together, fine; but that's not likely. On the Tour's penultimate stage, which finishes at the summit of Mont Ventoux, Contador and Armstrong will be unleashed. The strongest rider that day will win the Tour. I actually hope this happens. The last thing I want is for Armstrong to win the Tour, only to have critics say that his team prevented Contador from winning. It should be mano-a-mano at some point, and what better point than the final climb of the Tour? Here is tomorrow's stage.
