I enjoyed the All-Star game yesterday. My friend Hawk, who is a couple of years older than I am, brought his Strat-O-Matic baseball game to my house so that we could act like 12-year-olds for a couple of hours. It was fun. Hawk's 1961 New York Yankees (Mantle, Maris, Kubek, et al.) defeated my beloved 1968 Detroit Tigers (Kaline, Horton, Northrup, et al.), 7-1. Whitey Ford bested Mickey Lolich. We had the All-Star game on in the background. I hated to hear the boos for President Obama. I hated it just as much (but no more) when President Bush was booed at such events. How classless to boo one's president at an event that has nothing to do with politics! Can't people shut politics off for two minutes?
Addendum: Ichiro Suzuki appears to have a sense of humor.
