There is no better proof of the insularity of the editorial board of the New York Times than this editorial opinion. The board thinks Democrats have merely done a bad job of explaining their "accomplishments" to the American people. It never occurs to the board that Americans consider these things travesties rather than accomplishments. The board's advice to Democrats is not "turn back," but "forge ahead!" You gotta love it. There are going to be a lot of devastated progressives come early November. In 2012, we elect a Republican president and start to undo the damage done by Democrats (not least of which is the damage done to the federal judiciary). I expect Republicans to run this country for the next two decades. Democrats have proved, in two short years, that they cannot be entrusted with governance. They are arrogant, elitist, and misguided.

Addendum: Barack Obama and his minions have started to attack George W. Bush, as though the former president were on the ballot. This is an electoral loser, because most Americans would trade Obama for Bush in a heartbeat. In fact, Bush would defeat Obama soundly if the two were running for president this year. Who would have thought that the "clean and articulate" Obama would make the word-mangling Texas cowboy look good?
