Nearly 10 years after the horrific attacks of 9-11, progressives don't get it. Terrorists are not criminals; they're warriors. Our criminal laws and procedures, therefore, don't apply to them. The peddlers of fear and the phony tough-on-terrorism crowd have dominated the national security debate for too long. The president must step in and stop this march toward endless war and the perpetual undermining of American constitutional values.
Note the cynicism. Those who disagree with the editorial board aren't arguing in good faith. They're peddling fear (for what purpose?) and merely pretending to be tough on terror. Two can play this cynical game. The members of the editorial board hate this country and want to weaken it. They are fifth columnists. Their aim is to coddle the terrorists who have fallen into our hands, thereby emboldening other terrorists to continue their murderous ways.
