To the Editor:
Re “G.O.P. vs. World,” by David Greenberg (Op-Ed, June 30):
To call Republicans’ opposition to President Obama’s foreign policy a turn inward is to give them far too much credit.
This crowd, which now points, red-faced, to the infamously impotent War Powers Act, cheered on the Bush administration’s catastrophic unilateral misadventure in Iraq. Yet today it nitpicks President Obama’s imperfect but comparatively benign multilateral involvement in Libya.
What is on display by most Republicans is not a genuine turn inward but a political ploy that will vanish the second the next Republican is elected president.
Dangerous? Yes. Genuine? No.
