This journalist reports some of what the athlete said, but not the "anti-gay slur." The goal is to keep you guessing, and thereby chill your speech. The journalist, in other words, has been co-opted by homosexuals.
Addendum: What is the function of "anti" in "anti-gay slur." Could there be a pro-gay slur? Isn't the "anti" part of "slur"? The journalist is inept as well as biased.
