Elizabeth Drew is a left-wing propagandist masquerading as a journalist. She can always be counted on to put the best spin on what Democrats do and the worst spin on what Republicans do. In this essay, she expresses disappointment with Barack Obama. She says he failed "to put forward a serious long-term budget of his own"; that he was "taken . . . to the cleaners" by House Speaker John Boehner; that, halfway into his term of office, he is in campaign mode rather than governance mode; and that he has (or ended up having) "misguided policies." Much is made these days about Obama's base turning on him, but when election day arrives in November 2012, the base will support him. What are they going to do, vote Republican? Right now, he's appealing to so-called independents. Republicans should not underestimate the electoral craftiness of Barack Obama. Anyone who can defeat the Clinton machine knows what he or she is doing.
