Re “Cabinet Choices Signal Embrace of Wall St. Elite” (front page, Dec. 1):

Donald Trump won the election campaigning as a populist promising to save America from the depredations of Wall Street. Yet now that it’s time for him to begin delivering on his promises, he is reaching into the very canyons of Wall Street for his top economic picks. Why is anyone surprised?

As a private-sector salesman, Mr. Trump set the standard. As a paragon of business ethics, not so much. Many of his contractors, for example, claimed that he stiffed them. So in stocking his cabinet with members of the Wall Street elite contrary to the seductive pitch of his campaign, Mr. Trump is using a classic ruse of the shady salesman. It’s called bait and switch.
