I have only one cycling goal for 2017: to ride 5,350.8 miles. That's three 34.3-mile rides per week for 52 weeks. If I ride that many miles this year, it will be my third-best mileage year ever. In succeeding years, I'll increase the distance incrementally (for example, to 34.4 miles, and then to 34.5 miles, and then to 34.6 miles) to continue having my third-best year. I don't rule out trying to break my new record of 6,288 miles one year, but I'm going to take it "easy" for at least a year. Three rides per week will keep my heart and lungs strong, help me maintain my weight, and get me outdoors for several hours each week. Plus, it's a hell of a lot of fun.
